Seven Years Earlier
"I told you dear, your mother died before I could save her." Carlisle spoke calmly, standing in the doorway of her bedroom. Unlike the rest of them, she needed to relax for a while. He watched her before Carlisle sighed and moved toward her. He placed a cool hand on her forehead, "Your mother told me to take care of you, she didn't know what you were, but I did. And that's all." he spoke. He pulled up a chair, "Do you want me to tell you about Tina and Shane?" he asked.
She looked at him and nodded only slightly as she laid in the bed. She listened to him tell the story, but whenever he tried to finish, she kept asking for more detail. What happened to Shane? But Carlisle never told her, it was always a story for another time. She merely did what she was told to, she went to high school, but she didn't avoid humans, she sat with Emmett and Edward and Alice and the others. She always sat at the back of the classroom, in the shadows, not looking at anyone in the room, just up at the board and then down at her book.
Esme sighed, "Is she resting Carlisle?" Esme spoke gently. She stood in the doorway as she walked toward Carlisle, "She's not one of us Carlisle, why did you take her in?" Esme spoke. Esme kept her eyes on the sleeping girl, Carlisle had never done anything without reason. Except for when he had taken Melissa in. Esme wondered what exactly was going on in his mind, Edward never told her what Carlisle was thinking. Alice had not foreseen it either, the brunette merely watched her 'daughter' lie asleep in the bed.
"Touch her forehead, then tell me where she belongs. Amongst the humans or with us Esme?"
Present Day
Melissa laughed, bouncing the basketball as she shot it at the hoops. Grunting when she was knocked over, she skidded across the cement, pretending to have cut open her arm. Melissa quickly rolled her sleeve down, bolting toward the cafeteria. She took off her black sunglasses and pocketed them, she sat down at the table where most of the Cullen's were. Mel just kept her head down, "I got knocked over...I skidded across cement a few metres but I didn't let anyone see my arm." Mel said quietly to the Cullen's. She kept her head down, sitting down next to Edward.
Alice looked at Melissa and smiled. "When we get home, I'll take you hunting." Alice spoke, "Or if Jasper or Emmett want to take you, they can." Alice spoke in a low tone. Her voice was quiet, she watched Melissa and let out a quiet mumble. "Edward, take Melissa home." Alice ordered, she looked at him sternly, "Go. I'll call Carlisle and tell him to call the Principal." Alice said gently, making sure no one else heard. Alice merely pulled out her cell phone and dialled the familiar number. She heard the phone be picked up and nodded once to Edward.
"Carlisle, Melissa skidded across cement in front of humans. Can you call the Principal and tell him that Edward is allowed to take her home at any time?"
"Alright, bring her straight to the house, I will be home soon."
Edward took Melissa by the hand, "Come on. We'll wait for Carlisle to call then I'll take you home." Edward spoke. He was determined for her not to get seen by the humans she had been playing basketball with. "Why do you fraternise with the humans? Your one of us Mel, you need to learn to stay away from humans or you might attack them." Edward spoke, he looked at her as he led her toward the car. He opened up the door for her to get in, having released her hand. He never understood why she was so eager to be around humans, she still craved human blood like the rest of them.
Melissa had ran as fast as she could, running nearly as fast as Edward. She quickly arrived at the Cullen house, Mel walked in as she glanced around and quickly made her way to her room. Locking the door and shutting the curtains, she didn't want to have to listen to Edward dictating all the time about the rules. She merely looked at her arms, closing her eyes as she concentrated on Carlisle and sent a small thought into his head. Come to Mel's room.
This is just the beginning of Twilight, now it is your turn to remake the saga into the way you want it. Everything else is just a bunch of...
