( LEAH NATALIE CLEARWATER )
a man said to the universe:
"sir i exist!"
"however" replied the universe
"the fact has created in me
no sense of obligation."

- - - I DARE SAY THAT I'VE HEARD OF YOU BEFORE. REMIND ME AGAIN, WHAT'S THE NAME YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU, ANY SIGNIFICANCE ?
You've heard of me. Really, what have you heard about me? Good things? Bad things? It's really rather critical I know. See, people treat me so oddly now, like I'm some kind of ticking time bomb- and, oh, anyway, it's Leah Clearwater. Leah, the second favorite wife. Hmmph. My mom just used it because she thought it was nice, but there's so much subtext, it's not fair.
- - - REMIND ME AGAIN, WHEN WERE YOU BORN ? I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH OF THE STORY SURROUNDING YOUR BIRTH
It was a cold and rainy night in April, and my father was off doing something somewhere else, and my mother was wishing she'd never married him, I'm sure. Seventeen days after Emily was born. We used to have parties together.
- - - CHRIST YOU DON'T LOOK FAMILIAR, DO YOU LIVE IN THESE PARTS?
Nah, I live out in La Push. It's not that far, though, you should really come visit. In the summer when nobody is fighting with anyone else it's really rather pleasant.
- - - SO WE KNOW THIS IS GONNA SOUND STRANGE, BUT WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU?
I'm a humanitarian. Then again, who isn't?
- - - OKAY, BE HONEST HERE. WHICH ARE YOU IN TO MORE: GUYS OR DOLLS ? DON'T WORRY, MY LIPS ARE SEALED
Oh man, I'll tell you, I'm considering a sexual identity crisis. It's true what they say, one bad experience can turn you off men forever.
- - - TELL ME: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ? THINGS THAT JUST MAKE YOU WANT TO SMILE
I have a lot of favorite things. Sailing with my dad and brother, for one. Baking with my mom. Shopping with Emily - well, with my friends. Being by myself, sometimes. Swimming, cars, motorcycles (almost gave my dad a heart attack), math, physics, learning, writing, journalism in particular... I want to go to a state school and get a four year degree so I could work with the Seattle Gazette or something, but my parents are strapped for cash, so I'm working at the video rental place in Forks... like I'll ever have enough for a tuition doing that, though...
- - - AND SADLY, WE ALL KNOW THERE ARE THINGS WE JUST CAN'T STAND. WHAT ARE YOUR'S
Being held back. I have a big problem with authority because of that. I don't like having options closed off to me. That's why things never would have worked out with me and Sam anyway, because even if he hadn't fallen in love with my best friend in the whole wide world, I would have left him eventually. I'm not one for commitment. I'd be a terrible parent, probably, seeing as I hate children - oh, Jesus, that sounded terrible. I don't hate children so much as children hate me. I'm imposing, I guess.
- - - ANY SHORT OR LONG TERM GOALS ? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS ? IN TEN ? HOW DO YOU PLAN TO GET THERE
At this rate? Working in a video store and living in my parents' house. I don't want that to happen to me, but I don't really have a lot of options at this point, so...
- - - WHAT MAKES YOU QUAKE IN YOUR BOOTS ? IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE THING THAT HAS SCARED YOU THE MOST, WHAT WOULD IT BE
Being alone for the rest of my life. I was joking about being turned off from men forever earlier, and yeah, I am a flighty person and I'll probably never really settle down, but I need some stability. I'm just afraid I won't ever find somebody who can deal with me on a regular basis. Sam obviously couldn't.
- - - IS THERE A SIGNIFICANT OTHER IN YOUR LIFE ? HOW DO YOU DO WITH RELATIONSHIPS
Go die. I'm not talking about this again.
- - - NOW, YOU KNOW THAT I ADORE YOU, BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT SOME OTHER PEOPLE FOR A BIT. A LITTLE BIRD TOLD ME THAT YOU HAVE SOME PRETTY INTERESTING PARENTS, WHO ARE THEY AND WHAT ARE THEY LIKE
Oh oh oh, Sue and Harry, there's not another couple in the world quite like them. They're good parents, really. They like doing things with me. They weren't offended when I was a moody teenager. My mom doesn't blame me for what happned with Sam like it seems everyone else on the Rez does. My dad pretends to care less than he does. They're a blast.
- - - ANY OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN YOUR FAMILY ? DID YOUR PARENTS HAVE ANY OTHER CHILDREN
Seth is an absolute angel. He's always been right beside me on everything, and just been great support. When I got my driver's liscence we would always go to Port Angeles for ice cream without telling my parents, it scared the shit out of them, but it was just fun - fun to be independent together.
- - - HOW ABOUT PETS, HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE
I have a dog, her name is Scully. She's a brown lab, sweetest thing in world. She's getting a little old, but still has maybe four or five good years in her.
- - - OKAY, YOU HAVE TO HAVE KNOWN THAT WE WERE GOING TO ASK. WHAT'S YOUR BEST KEPT SECRET ? I WON'T TELL
... I think Sam is beating Emily. They said it was an accident, and sure, it looks like an animal attack, but I saw them like five minutes before it happened. Jesus, I swear to god I will beat the fucking crap out of him if he's hurting her.

"Look, mister," Leah spat at the hotel concierge, who spoke very little to no English, which was very unfortunate for him because she wasn't in a good mood and didn't particularly care if she was typifying Americans. She was pissed and she wanted her room. "I could tell you about the seemingly endless flight which I spent wedged between two of the last people I'd ever want to be wedged between for twenty hours, or about the shit I have to do while I'm here, but I could not possibly even begin to put to words how hellish my day has been," Her voice was dangerously low and her patience dangerously thin- spending the entire flight to Italy stuck between Jacob Black and Rosalie Hale while they had bickered incessantly at each other had been bad enough, but now this little European punk seemed to be convinced that somebody was already checked into her room, which was impossible because she was the only person sleeping in there. She felt her body quivering beneath her, and she tightened her hand around the rolled up tourist map of Volterra she'd been toting around all day. She had decided long ago that she hated this city - the minute they'd set foot inside, she noticed the scent of leeches wafting up from every sewer drain in the entire place, how the cloaked figures hid in the shadows, just watching their domain. It was enemy ground and she really didn't want to be here.
In that moment, though, she decided she hated the entire country and everyone that lived in it.
"I'm sorry, miss," The young man said in his heavily accented English. "The room is occupied." She narrowed her eyes at him dangerously. Setting down the map, which was a sad piece of crumpled paper by this point in time, she inhaled deeply, trying to stop herself from looking like a tuning fork. Or bursting into wolf form in the lobby of this very nice hotel the Cullens had paid for. She rubbed her forehead as she spoke again.
"Who's in there?" She half-snapped, trying to reign herself in. The man look generally nonplussed, but a little irritated with the crazy American in his hotel. She mentally scoffed at his hoity-toity manner.
"Two young men, this tall, brown hair. No shirts," He added as an afterthought, sounding a little more condescending than he should have, in her opinion. She connected it in her mind instantly- not that it would have taken a super genius or anything, though. She rationalized that they probably had the wrong room, though a sneaking suspicion sat at the back of her mind.
"Probably because it's so hot in here. Too cheap for an air conditioner?" She chirped, holding her hand out for the room key. She raised an eyebrow at him just as he raised his at her. There was a long pause, in which she might have growled a little. Just a little. After a long moment he deposited a card key in her hand and she was off just as fast as he could blink. She was so over that guy.
When she reached the hotel room, she noted it seemed to be empty, though the door to the bathroom was closed. Seth and Jacob had managed to spread their stuff all over the main room already, and their bags rested on the two beds. Her eyes narrowed immediately when she saw them. Her mind was instantly in overdrive, working out the three possible ways three people could be arranged into two king sized beds. Her lips were pulled tight in frustration as she heard the door to the bathroom open.
"One of you is sleeping on the floor." She said briskly, her tone flat. She was having trouble containing herself. She was sure this was mister mind reader leech's idea of a joke. She was really starting to not like him.
