What happens when you mix magic and mayhem?
High School.
At J.R.R. Tolkien Academy, that may be more literal than you think.
Why?
Because at Tolkien, none of the kids are human. Yep, that's right, monsters, but they prefer the more politically correct term "nonhumans". Only you don't know it, they look like your average high school kids, but their bodies are changing, morphing into their adult forms. Or maybe you knew that already because you're one of them. A vampire, or a faery, or perhaps you're one of those kids from a species called "Hunters" whose job it is to prevent the normal humans from finding out about your... quirks. They don't exactly have a good rap, especially since they might have taken out someone close to you. But anyway, they won't hassle you if you don't bother them. Then there's the Elementals, the guardians of the school, there's four of them: Raquelle, Alba, Sam, and Mina. Odd thing is, Sam and Mina are Hunters, sisters, there hasn't been a Hunter Elemental for hundreds of years, or since the Hunters became ostracized from society.
Or maybe you're not a nonhuman. Maybe you are just a human. Perhaps you go to Clairmore Prepatory Academy. Lucky you! Clairmore is one of the most prestigous boarding schools in the country dating back to 1743 in England. It boasts one of the finest school libraries in the world, and the best in Galveston. They're Tolkien Academy's biggest rivals, but that rivalry is more than who wins the football game. Clairmore students know Tolkien's secrets, all of them. The headmaster David Lenahan is breeding the next generation of hunters, normal humans who kill nonhumans for a living.
But now, a dark shadow is building over Galveston, one that threatens the existence of both schools. One that even the most powerful members on both sides can't stop.
In our world, not everything is black and white.
